I've got a group of Polleni myself and what I've seen is they do tend to act like the Oscar of the African world really. They do have a tendancy to eat smaller fish if they see them. I made a mistake one time moving a group of Protomelas Steveni's that were about a month old into the larger tank where the Polleni were, and all 62 of them were gone in less then 2 hours. Wasn't much I could do once the carnage set in.
As far as temperment is concerned, that would not be my worry, though Polleni likely grow much slower then an Oscar. Polleni however are a Madagascar species, and their status I believe is threatend. I wouldn't house these two species together due to such a large difference in water chemistry needs. I know my hobbyists will swear that's not a major factor, I'm not of that mind set. I've seen much better results in my African stock by creating as close as I can the water chemistry the species has evolved in.

My Bro used to have an Oscar around 14" in a 110 gallon and it wouldn't allow any cichlids in the tank as well. I would be careful.
