Hey guys, I'm here because I have a problem involving my two cichlids, the Texas and the Oscar. I made a previous post about support for my Florida Gar. I mentioned in my post that the other cichlid was a Jack Dempsey, turns out, its a Texas. I have a 75 g tank wither 1 Tiger Oscar, 1 Texas Cichlid and 1 Florida Gar. My problem is that my Texas and Oscar are fighting more and more. A lady at the pet store (small pet store with only about 4 workers, not a huge place like petco or petsmart) said I could either get rid of him, or add another 1 or 2 fish. What should I do? Any suggestions to solving this problem? Thanks.

I also want to add that it was the texas who started the fighting, but now the Oscar seems weary of him and tends to have a go at him every time they get close. When the Oscar is fighting him, (he is black almost all around with orange in the middle. About 50% 50%) all the black on his dorsal and his tail go almost white. Is that a bad thing?

Well, It kind of been decided, we are getting rid of the texas, but I really want to know what I could replace it with. I really need your guy's help asap, this is really stumping me.

In a 75 gallon tank your options are limited the gar and the oscar are already pushing your luck with that size tank you could possibly get away with a firemouth or something mild temperd

Why not a bigger tank? More water helps everything.

I've been doing a bit more research and I've come up with a fish called the Senegal bichir. It says he is good with gars, but what about oscars? Is my tank too small for this fish? Thanks for all your suggestions, sorry if I may be dragging this on.

i tried to have a bichir and an oscar live together. they never showed aggression toward each other until one day the oscar bit the bichirs face off and killed him. i would not try that combination again.

I had a large Oscar and smaller h. Cyano in a 75g w/ the same problem. The cyano was too much for the Oscar to handle so I ended up selling her. A 75g is too small to keep these sp. together IMO.
