Oscar breeding

Does anybody know if the male or female cleans off the flat surface to lay the eggs on? Reason I’m asking is my Oscar, within minutes of me placing a flattish stone in the tank has now avidly been scrapping his/her? Lower jaw all over this rock. It’s the only Oscar in the tank so just curious if I have a male or female. And should I keep an eye out for aggression towards tank mates with this new breeding behavior?
If it's just one Oscar then it's just trying to move the rock. That's how they push things.

it’s definitely like a cleaning thing though. One of my fish is always moving sand around and spitting it on the rock and the Oscar is only 8-10 inches. Would he really be trying to move a 20 by 10 inch slab of slate? It also shakes and almost vibrates over the rock but like I said just one Oscar In the tank with various other cichlids.

sounds like nesting behavior. they do it all the time. some time they may lay and some times they may not. either way give an Oscar a flack rock its going to clean it, just in case love is in the water.
