hi all
I have just discovered this site and was wondering if any one here has succesfully bred oscars.
I think i have a pair. They are in a 300l tank and are roughly 5-6 inches have had them for a year got them when they were bit over 1 inch. However they haven't bred yet. They keep diging pits, cleaning slate and courting but nothing. I am sure they are differnt sexes. Any ideas

Cheers

hmmm you possitive they are different sexes?

I once had the same thing but found out as they got bigger that they were two males :(

and for your question to breeding, dont really know but as far as i know i dont think it has happned in the home aquarium

I have two oscars and one layed eggs, I though for sure they would be fertile because both ocsars seemed to be rubbing and playing with eachother. But it turns out they were lesbians! (no offence intended to anyone) lol ya its hard but its been done. Also try Oscarfish.com its like this site but just for oscars. Good luck and welcome to MFK! Give them plenty of cover, they dont like to lay in the open, or at least mine didnt.
