Those are great pictures of your oscars. The colors on them is amazing. I have not perfected the art of photographing mine yet.

I wonder if it is an individual fish thing. Because my other Oscar hasn't had any issues with fading at all.

Thanks,

Jacky

my black oscars fade when they r scared.no other time.they r normally black with yellow stripes.they turn light greenish-gray when they fade.it seems they can control how bright their yellow is because sometimes i see them with bright yellow stripes and other times they r almost all black.

im gonna try to get some better ones when i get home

Fading? mine has gotten alot more intense as it grows
Try krill, cooked carrots, hematococcus pluvalis to bring out that red!

Another thing with fish colors that looks like it might be a determining factor to me, is how territorial they are feeling. When I put my 2nd oscar in the tank with my 1st, my 1st colors changed a LOT! Went from solid black and red to almost a sick yellowish color, and then back like a day later. I thought he was sick, but I guess this is what happens.

Those are great pics!

I think I might have found the cause of this. I really looked over my fish today and I noticed a small white patch on him. I think this is ich but I have no experience with it. I bought the Oscars at Wal-Mart and kind of felt sorry for them and I know they are probably questionable being from Wal-Mart.

Do I treat the whole tank or should I move my Oscar to my quarantine (I hope I spelled that right) tank and treat just that one fish?

Could my other fish be infected since the last fish I added were my Oscars and that was a couple of months ago?

Could the Oscar have had ich the whole time and just now start showing the symptoms? If so, how much damaged had been done when it has gone on for so long?

I am thinking that this might be stressing my fish out enough to cause it to change it's coloring.

Thanks

Jacky
