Congrats on your Oscars, they are my favorite.

What size tank are they in if you don't mind me asking?

Just remember these cute little guys will get 12" or bigger each and need a lot of swimming room. Not to mention the bio-load they create.

For the moment, they are in a 65g, just the two of them. Bill is about 2-2.5" and Ted is 3.5-4". I'm using this tank as a growout tank, and then I will be transporting them to my parents house in Indy to their eventual home of a 100g. I hope that is big enough : /

6' long I hope in the 100. Popular opinion says for bio-load you should have 55 gallons per full grown Oscar so you are right at the limit. Just be sure and keep an eye on nitrates and do water changes accordingly.

Got pics of the little guys?

Please excuse the foggyness, I took these pictures with a cell phone. The water is a bit foggy, but nowhere near as bad as it looks in the pics, and there is a white wall behind the tank. Ted is the larger albino one, and Bill is the smaller red.

My tiger loves algae wafers. I'm not sure if it's as food or a toy but he snags them every time I try to feed my pleco. Otherwise he gets hikari pellets, frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp.

I recently acquired 2 baby Oscars. One is a 3.5" albino tiger oscar, and the other is a 2" red oscar. What should I be feeding them, and what should I watch out for? There happens to be a small platy in the tank with them, and neither have tried to eat it, I think they made friends with it, or haven't realized they could swallow it whole yet. Somebody please help.

Your small platy will be feed for them within the next two to three months....Do a 50% water change every week.....Clean out the the mechanical filtration part(the sponge) in your filter twice a month.....As far as food goes, vary the types every day....Having a staple(or regular) feed for them should be color enhancing pellets....I choose Hikari Bio-Gold.....Feed them cocktail shrimp, chopped prawns, krill, and Tilapia fillets 1-3 times a week will boost their growth....Hopefully you check ed on the best suitable tank size for them for when they are adults.....I have mention that a 100g is just enough for two full grown Oscars to thrive....

Yeah, I might try to bump them up to a 125 or a 150g if I can get a good enough deal on one, might have to craigs list it. I have a better picture of my albino now, just got it a bit ago. Thank you for the information on proper care, I will be sure to take note of it.

Here is the new picture of Ted.

A variety is the best for Oscars and any fish. Staple of Hikari Bio-Gold is what I use. Also I use frozen Krill. My fish love them. They will eat them right out of my hand. I was on here researching other options and came across many users who gut-load crickets and earthworms with color enhancing fish flakes and feed their fish. I haven't tried this yet but plan to get on it asap. The only thing that I was not particular about with feeding my fish earthworms is that they are full of soil. If they are full of fish flakes I think it will be much better for maintaining water quality. Also be sure to do the water changes so that you dont get that ugly hole in the head disease. good luck

I find Oscars are not finicky eaters... I feed them cichlid gold pellets, crickets, worms, krill, etc. They love the sinking carnivore pellets we feed the bichirs too, and they will get some feeder goldfish occasionally as a treat. They love to eat and stuff themselves all the time!
