can i give boiled/raw fish fhillets of salmon/perch/carp to my oscars.
will it pose any health problems.

i wouldnt in my opinion, when i used to breed oscars i used to give them mussels/prawns/shrimp only as a treat now and then, the hikari carnivore pellets are just as good if not better, than any live food/dead meat, and they give great colouration and growth, the only thing id say could go wrong is the fish getting blocked up inside and having problems, because an oscar will beg for food even when full lol and people give into their fish begging and overfeed alot :)

I would feed pellets as a everyday food and treats(what you are feeding) every few days or a little bit every day. the pellets are made to give fish a balanced and nutritinal diet so i would defenitly feed pellets. treats in moderation are not bad at all.

yes im thinking of feeding fish fhillets as a treat only.i feed my oscars with hikari gold pellets and hikari food sticks.twice a week i feed with prawns.i was wondering whether i can feed raw fish to my oscars as an ocassional treat?

I Have found that salmon leaves a Oil slick in my tank, mine love a prawn, whitebait, Halibut pellets & fat worms.

Saibal,

I agree with the Hikari recommendation. The Bio-Gold Plus Pellets are excellent also. If you feel like it, head over to the OscarFish.com forums sometime. The guys over there have an exhaustive list of articles related to everything Oscar. Extremely well researched and well written. Check it out. You won't be disapointed.
