hey everyone this is a video of my friends 120 gallon tank with his 2 oscars they have been together for about 4 years now and they all of the sudden have started fighting. why do you think they are fighting now?
tank stock: 2 large oscars, one 9" jd, and one 10" polypterus senegalus.
the tank is cloudy because we just cleaned it.
Thanks!

2 male oscar and I think he has a female JD!

That is one possibility. There is definitely a rivalry, there. At first, it looked territorial. Then the JD moved and everything looked like courtship. I do think the Oscars are vying for a place by the JD's side. As for Oscar gender, I cannot even guess.

the JD looks male to me from the fins. Im guessing the reg oscar made a bid for the albinos heiriarchal spot and got put in his place. ive also heard some oscars bonding behavior can be quite rough. imo the Jd is top dog in the tank.. neither oscar made a bid for him and if anything respected its space.

the JD's fin look female to me, male cichlid should have longer dorsal and anal fin than that and I think the JD's belly is a bit big!
Both of the oscars most likely are male since adult male and female should never fight and female don't usually fight unless they try to keep their male or protect the fry! and both of them do look like male to me.
