Oscar/Flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very bad idea. I have both fish,(full sized) and would never put them together in any size tank. Flowerhorns are some of the most agressive and territorial Cichlids on the market. Unless you raise them young with other agressive Cichlids, such as Blue Nile Perch, Flowerhorns, Red Devils, or Wolf Cichlids(in a massive tank, 300+ gal) forget every having tankmates. Your Oscars would be meat for the beast. Best of luck.

dont' FH's get too big for a 75 by itself?
yeah people tell me no to 2 O's in 75.

thanks ya'll. i've been wanting a FH for a while and my wife has the Os. I have to get her a bigger tant so i was hoping i could get the FH. guess i'll have to wait for another tanks.

FWIW I have had an oscar and flowerhorn (both 12") live together peacefully in a 265.

I raised my F.H. in a 38 gal, alone, until he was 9", and now he's about 13" in my 50 gal (still alone.) I would really like to have him in a 75-80 gal tank, but he's pretty happy in the 50. Just make sure you got some good filteration and deep gravel and a big clay pot to hide in. I did not realize when I first got him, that F.H.s are earth movers, so it's really important for their well being to have lots of gravel to move around. He thinks the whole room is his.
