Please don't take this the wrong way, but if you added a brick an Oscar in a bad mood would take offense

That actually did make laugh out loud, soooooooo true. My problem isnt with the oscar its more with the T.Ellioti but anything 4" or smaller will end up the same way as the poor F1 Texas I tried to introduce a few weeks back (ie expensive Oscar snack).

silver dollars are a good oscar tankamte with all those fish in one tank though eventually will probably need a larger tank

from your pic of the acara,
any chance it could be Sapayensis, looks very similar to mine (female)
But could just be the light and my eyes.

As for the aggression, I have not kept Elliotti, only normal Firemouths and they just need other Firemouths in the tank to ignore everything else. They keep busy enough with each other.
