I have a pair of 1" juvi tiger oscars in a 55 gallon (I know it's too small for full grown oscars and I will get them out of there soon). Ever since I got them the pair has been depressed and sitting in the corner doing nothing at all. They will occasionally nibble on sinking food but don't swim and just stay together. Do I need dither fish? Or just wait until they start behaving normally. They are still pretty dark and their colouration is quite bright, so they seem otherwise healthy. Any ideas/suggestions?

They aren't skittish at all but will stop swimming and settle down to the bottom when they see somebody pass by (if they aren't already there). If I peer into the corner of the tank where they sit they look back but stay where they are. I've heard oscars acting like this when moved from one aquarium to another, but is it normal for such a long period of time?

after time theyll get used to u and b alright, throw in some guppies, when i got my oscars they chases my barbs and ate them, they then became alright and started swimming around

Haha! I was thinking of putting a few fish in there to help the oscars out. I was thinking black mollies since they are somewhat similar looking to oscars. Thanks!

Try dimming their lights, and make sure you have no ammonia or nitrites. Other than that, time usually does it.

They do seem more active without lights, so maybe I'll leave those off for the time being and let the ambient light do it's job. I'll also make slightly more regular water changes, so maybe that'll help.

I might be missing something but how long have you had them?
