OSCAR GOING INSANE!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update......I did a pretty good water change and put some nitraban in the water. Water is still settling. His chin zit seems very enflamed. I don't know if maybe he(or she) is in a mating mode or what. Leave input if you have it. Thanks

DId the water change cause any change in behavior? Personally, I suspect the temperature to somehow be a cause of all this. What is it now? What was it yesterday?

How much lighting do you have? Is it too bright? Might be freaking out at his own reflection.

did you check the ph and i have to agree with ewurm could be hes getting spooked seeing his own reflection.
i always kept my O in low light with a moderatly low ph

I was thinking the same thing, the lighting probably freaked him out...I have had my fair share of the O world for quite some time already....This behavior is nothing new to me....Your O was probably napping with half the brain off, and all of a sudden the whole brain clicks on to lights and the image of the whole room, causing it to "death roll"(lol)....That chin buise will heal within two weeks....Double check your electrical circuits and water parameters....Keep up with weekly water changes....

*edit* Maybe the dog is bored...Do have a powerhead in there???Throw in a ping pong ball...

I've had a similar thing happen with my Oscar. I couldn't figure it out. I thought the other fish might be spooking it at night when it's sleeping. Sorry to say, I didn't have much of a choice. I gave him up. He might be better if you can give him a tank to itself.

:grinno: I would beat the o with a big red stick next time it gets out of line haha:ROFL:  :grinno:

I have 2 sets of four foot fixtures. Each set has one VHO Super Actinic bulb and a super white. The fish is doing 100% now. I think the nitrates were too high and it took him a day to recover after the water change. He seems to be perfect now
