I hate to sound, like I rely on the Internet for anything, but it just seems like no one knows anything anymore.
I went to a LFS the other day, relatively new one. It was gorgeous in there but I asked about their oscars. The guy wanted 59 bucks for a 6 inch, and said "it's in wonderful condition"
The O had Hole in head and was pretty torn up on the fins.
I didn't have the heart to tell him they weren't in the greatest shape.
And then I asked about a tank size for a RTC and he had his son google it/:

My current 10" albino tiger o had his entire tail other than a little strand bitten off by one of my turtles. He is now a big fat healthy o. And he grew it all back and he is as healthy as ever. But like said previously, oscars are tough fish, put in some aquarium salt and he will be fine.
