Killing it is denying it the chance to live. That is inhumane. Please do me a favor an let your close love ones know that next time you have a serious injury an wind up in the hospital to please not give you a chance to fight and live but administer you some rat poison. Same concept.

If I am ever ripped in half at the waist and my options are a) try to keep the wound clean and hope for the best (without attention from trained medical personnel or painkillers), or b) be put out of my misery quickly and relatively painlessly, I'd hope my family has the sense to choose option b...

I'm interested in the rest of it's life now, and just want video.
The owner should do whatever he wants, like everyone else would.
Silent-audience film night, that's my only new idea.
The fish is in clean water. I'm all for learning from him.
This is all about the fish, so let him teach us.

UPDATE!!

So The filter is on and he hasn't been bothered by it too much. He is swimming all around the tank eating and just seeming "happy" (i cannot confirm nor deny that a fish is happy but thats what he seems to be lol). His wound is healing over and fin is starting to grow back.

The tank has a heater now at a temp around 80F. Pictures and maybe a video coming soon so i can get some more opinions.

As for suffering, how do you know the fish is suffering? He does not appear to be in distress or stressed. Acting quite normal. Just Wondering.

Just an FYI i am fully committed to taking care of my new special needs fish if that mean hand feeding my fish and aerating the water with a straw i will haha! but in all seriousness i think he can recover and just be a fish with character.

Thanks all for the replies and i will keep you updated!

P.S. He has started to rub his face on the gravel. Is this some sort of fish thing or oscar thing? Dont think this has anything to do with his injury cause its his face but i dont know. Thanks!

I had a convict like this for a couple of days.like 5days. It didnt make it. I say put it down

Well this little guys got your convict beat by a day now so there goes your credibility.

Lol I kid I kid.

I'm all for letting nature take its course. Someone provided some good info about there being a reason his tail was bitten and not his face.

Now I want to know in all seriousness. If this fish makes it and has a full recovery, what will all you people say who's first reaction was to "do the HUMANE (how playing god and killing a living creature which you don't fully understand is humane baffles me but to each his own) thing and put it down"?

I'm truly curious...

I'm glad he's doing well
