We have a 1 year old Oscar about 6" big. He/she has been a very healthy fish. We recently changed the tank to 100 gallon tank and only 13 fish inside. 2 Oscars (this one is the biggest and main fish) Cichlids, Plecos, Green Terror, Jack Dempsey. These fish have all been together since day 1. They started in a 55 gal then a 65 and now 100 gallon tank.
Our Oscar for about 3 days it is not eating and acting very weird. He has been having tantrum type things where it dashes across the whole tank OUT OF CONTROL! Almost jumped out of the tank, bangs his head and just bashes into things. Also, has been sinking to the bottom of the tank almost laying flat on the side. Hiding and kind of drifts away. Poop is white and stringy. REFUSES TO EAT. The water is at 75-78 always has been. The water perimeters are Nitrate is 5, Nitrite is 0, Alkalinity is 120, PH is 8.0.
We did a 20% water change. Haven't added any other fish. We were feeding them guppies... and then he started acting weird. Just sticking to flake food and some shrimp. Does anyone have any idea of what in the world is wrong with our poor Oscar? We are worried and would like to fix it ASAP! We did try to segregate it by itself for some space and it got pissed off to the max! So, we put it back in its home.
It was shaking its tail and body like vibrating so we were wondering if its trying to mate. But, the other Oscar is still too young. What is going on here? Any advice would be great. Thank you so much!!
