Thats a nice looking Oscar you picked up there! Good on you for saving him! He'll do fine in your 55 for a while... and hopefully he wont bug the parrots too much!

If he ripped up the plastic plants in the tub, guess what he'll do to the live plants when he gets bigger?
Aw, man. Rain on my parade why don't ya?:p I know he'll rip up my nice plants, but what can I do?

What I hope will happen is that he'll be too small to rip up some of these plants right now and they'll get a nice network of roots going. That way once he gets big enough maybe he'll have some trouble uprooting them, and he'll just have to settle for tearing them apart. If not, it's no big if he rips up some of the plants.

I agree with Mystix212, Your plants will be toast, especially once he gets settled in.

Thanks for the support, everyone. I'll need all the luck I can get! Honestly, I was half expecting a lot of flaming because of my tank size, but everyone's been really nice so far, I appreciate it.

I want to go up to at least 125, but they're hard to come by locally. Would a 75 gallon be alright for an Oscar and two blood parrots for life? However, I would like to get a 90 gallon if I couldn't get the 125. They're less of a rarity but still pretty scarce.

One last thing is bugging me. I added a flowerpot for him to hide in and he seems to have plucked up some. I haven't noticed him eating at all, though. How long could/ should it take?

Ok, I'll try not to worry. Try being the key word here. Thanks again.
