Oscar must outgrow Syn..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm thinking this would work better if you use more cover & sight breaks.
I know alot of people hate, or don't like fake plants, however they do work good for situations like this.
In combination w/your clay pots, you could divide your aquarium in plain sight w/o it really looking like it.
You may be able to avoid separating your fish w/a little creative decoration placement.

Another idea I'm having, is dither fish, this may add a slight distraction to the attention of your cichlids.
Possibly w/the proper combination of factors, you could have a fairly stress free aquarium for your Tiger Oscar, & synspilum.

I had to rehome my big Vieja for he kept on beating up my red oscar.
He even had my Oscar knock himself out one night.
Both of them where 10 Inch when i sepaterated them.
The Vieja ate everything i put in the tank, before any of the other fish got anything.
She grew faster than my oscar did, and he was pretty fast allready...

Mind you my oscar was healed completely within weeks, and returned to his normal behaviour several hours after the Vieja was taken out.
But imo,Vieja can be B@d @$$!
And can grow just as fast as oscars...

Please dont get confuse: the picture, the oscar is in a hospital 2ft. The main tank (6ft) houses the Syn and a school of Widow Tetra (dithers) and its got good amount of decor... but yeh, ill definitely again try creative decoration placement.

Anywho, oscar is now in the 2ft. How long, until some problems will occur under such a small space..?

If you keep a religious waterchanging scedule and go slow on the food, you'll be allright for some weeks.
Frequent waterchanges are the key to keeping oscars healthy esp in confined quarters.
