Hi all,
I’m new to the tropical fish world but have had cold water fish most of my life.
So my question is I picked up my tiger Oscar yesterday and his colour was awesome. Deep black with vivid orange but this morning he is almost brown with pale orange. He’s well, active and seems pretty good but his colour has just washed out. Is this just a stress thing from been moved or is there more.
Thanks for any advice and I look forward to been part of the tropical fish world.

Welcome aboard

Oscars are very intelligent and sulk . Hopefully you have done research prior to acquiring this special fish.

Yes I have done a heap of research and have a friend who keeps oscars and helped me to get set up. I had been told by the shop that oscars do sulk so hopefully that’s all it is

Jexnell Jexnell has a great thread on his Oscar Toni.

Give the little Oscar time to settle in and color should return. Also is it alone in the aquarium?

It could be a different colored substrate/background also. If the colors are still washed out in a few days, something else to look into. Depending on if it differs from its previous housing.
