The tank ran fully setup for a month before the fish were introduced. As far as prams I don’t think the fish need one as they are swimming fine on their own. But seriously I’ve had the tank tested by the shop and used bio noodles from a mates tank to condition the water along with the usual chemicals.Since no one has asked I will go ahead and ask the obvious questionThe tank is cycled properly? What are your water prams ?
He’s in a 200 litre tank and has a lot of places to hide. Having said that he’s out and about heaps and comes up to feed. The silver dollar Sid and him are getting on really well.Welcome to the Fishy family!
He was asking your tank parameters. Such as ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, hardness.
And to answers your original question he just got moved from the stores tank/water to yours. So he is adjusting to all the newness, tank, water, all the new stuff outside the tank. Give him a couple days to settle in and the colors should return. Does he have and place in the tank to hide out in, and come out when he is ready to.
What size tank do you have him in. You said you have one silver dollar? SD's do better in groups of 6 or more as they are a schooling fish and needs friends to feel safe.

One question that come to mind when you mention that you kept cold water fish previously, what temp is your tank? I assume you have a heater added with the comment that you made about cold water.
One thing you may find when you are starting out here is there will be lots of (requirements) that you may not have signed up for when you first get into fishkeeping. Lots of great people on here to help find out how to provide the best environment for your new finned friends. Most are very passionate about keeping the best environment possible for the fishes wellbeing and it may seem intrusive at first, but if you hear the people out, most are trying to be helpful wether it seems that way or not.
Oscars are great fish and have amazing personalities and can live 10+ years if kept well. Super messy fish. Every thing they do is messy. It’s just how they are. With that being said, heavy filtration is a must, lots of space, and frequent water changes. Avoid feeding them goldfish if you want to do live because they are really fatty and high in thiaminase (Spelling?).
If you have a chance throw us some pics. We love seeing people’s fish![]()
