a good vegetable based pellet is a must. dont cheap out on the pellets.

otherwise, my oscar loves little cut up pieces of shrimp, and he also loves chasing the live ones around the tank. avoid goldfish and stuff.

Without some veg they will be unhealthy. Not too many fish are 100% carnivorous. If your not going to feed them some vegatables then pellets are a must for the fish to thrive.
Currently you feed way too much protein. Not bad when they are young but if continued they will grow up proned to disease and probably not look all that great and not too active.

+1 because he said it better than I could have

then i guess it sounds good
oh and i forgot to mention guppies/platies/mollies/swordtails w.e you want to breed, stay away from goldfish, minnows, and other cyprinids due to the thiaminase they contain
im breeding swordtails for him :)

what veggies can i feed him?
and the reason i dont want pellets is because he is in a tank with polys and he is an aggressive eater while the polys take their time to find the food so by the time they find it a quarter of the food is already gone so im thinking that if i feed pellets that only the O will eat then feed the polys their food which the O will also get a big part of i think that that is way too much food for him

feed him a little less.. or try to target feed your other fish... i avoided that problem by having my oscar eat pellets and my SD eat what he misses and they also get lettuce which my O seems to want nothing to do with so everyone gets a good diet. my o gets market shrimp, just about any fish I catch and fillet from local waters, bloodworm cubes, massivore, and hikari food sticks (has an arowana on the bag) and hikari cichlid gold

skinned peas, lettuces, cucumber, sweet peppers, mangos, carrots, squash. You should target feed if your trying to avoid the o's eating everything. or just drop the pellets in first. Hikari makes small sinking pellets that are great for target feeding to make sure everybody gets grub. Lives foods arnt all that great for cichlids, but good for an occasional treat.

or try some fruit, banana, grapes, watermelon, honeymelon.
he may love that and its part of his natural diet as well.
My red only ate worms and bugs for over a year, and nowadays he loves the pellets.
