A big male red devil with small gravel, hell toss around the tank and eventually protect it like crazy. My red devil is a true glass banger and we get splashed and chased, theyre not just hungry, my male loves to just attack us. And a male will get a big hump on his head. Again I say male midas or red devil mix midas.

I've had O's before and I still do now. Never had a red devil/Midas but would definitely keep one if I have enough space.

if you get a devil get a wild one from Rapps otherwise IMO common rds are a dime a dozen and not a fish I have much interest in. Wild ones have less personality but much much more color. A big stellar red O is nice but u can do better. Get a single Butti, or a solo black nasty. I love midevils and truly enjoy my wild caught one , but honestly if you can't find something super unique it is just too common IMO. Same for an Oscar. And sadly most Oscars get ugly with age. Rarely do they keep that electric orange tone.

Hard decision having had both, but i'm gonna vote Oscar. Its like having a playful dog in your house that doesn't need walking and some of the color morphs are stunning.

Wild caught amph labiatus all the way. Oscars are so boring. If you're only getting one fish why wouldn't you get a special fish? Oscars are like 4.99 at petsmart. Blah
