A few months ago I purchased an Oscar and Sailfin Pleco for my aquarium. I love these guys. The Oscar is named Victor and the Pleco is named Hugo. Anyway, i got these fellas when they were both about an inch each in size. They have grown fast and well together and each are approx. 4 inches now. The 2 get along very well and have no issues at all. Last week however, I was browsing the web and came across a beautiful fish called the Blue Dolphin (Blue Moorii). I decided to purchase one and see how it goes with the others. The Dolphin is approx 2 inches in size and is obviously much smaller then the Oscar as Oscars have a very intimidating frame on them. Understandably, the Oscars owns the tank, and wasnt too impressed with the new addition at first. He definatly bullied the Dolphin for the first 3 days and i was very worried how the Dolphin would hold up. After 3 days it was like the Oscar became stressed and was acting very weird, hiding in a corner and laying sideways and acting very sluggish. The dolphin had calmed down quite abit from its frantic first 3 days however which i was pleased about. And the Pleco, well the Pleco is a Pleco and it didnt give a ****. After 5 days the tank is back to normal, the Oscar seems to let the Dolphin trail him wherever he goes and have almost became buddies. The Dolphin actually feed from the leftover live food that i feed my Oscar (Mealworms, Crickets, Bloodworms) and collects all the scraps left behind as he eats. At times when the Oscar is very hungry, he will show abit of dominance towards the Dolphin but nothing too harmful. I am very pleased so far with how things are going thus far and the Dolphin definately adds abit of vibrance to the tank. They are such well natured fish.

Thoughts?

Despite the south american being mixed with malawi (which isn't the problem to me in this case), i think it very well work long term, unless your moorii is a particularly aggressive specimen. Not a combo you see often, but good luck, hope it works well. Personally i mixed a few haps with CA and SA cichlids in my 125 when i kept cichlids for years with no issues.
