Toni and Laz no devider
They spent all week pretending the other wasn't there. I figured I'll never see if they can get along if the dont interact with one another. There has been some nudging and posturing but no fighting yet. Toni has been very submissive and gentle. Laz is ever the jerk.

I was totally wrong about how the first meeting would go. I thought bigger Toni was going to bully and beat up my poor little Laz. Jexnell's oscar has been quite the angel actually. Laz has been the one giving off all the aggressive body language and Toni refuses to answer him with anything but the broad side of her.
I believe that Toni is acting that way due to her actually of breeding age, and looking for a mate. Not sure of Laz, he looks close to the right age by size. We shall see.
I just want them to be healthy and happy weather they breed or not. Went to an LFS in va beach today and they had 6 big oscars (at least the size of Laz) in a 40gallon breeder tank. They looked so miserable and stressed out. They had no room to move at all. They were just cramed in there like sardines. I had to leave. Didnt buy anything, I just couldn't stand it
I was more referring to Toni when younger, she didn't like other Oscar's at all. Having rejected Nemo, the unannounced Oscar guest, and outright killing Juan, RIP. Seems she is a lot more into it than ever before. Like you I just hope they get along fine.
Tho I still think it would be the cutest thing to see them patrolling around your new pond next spring with a cloud of albino fry in tow.
