Oscar Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use Hikari Gold, myself & throw live in to keep them sharp.

That GF you have in there won't last long either, the O's will get wise to him

I keep the Oscar tank at about 80f, I think your filtration is in-line.

Let's see some pics...

well heres the hookup, i actually work at petsmart so i get 15% off - in store only though. also, online those filters are like...30 bucks each anyway. Which is cheaper, big als or petsmart's online...

edit: big als is 10 bucks more online for the penguin filters. I just checked.

If you see something cheaper at Petsmart.com, print it off, bring it to the store, and they'll give it to ya at that price plus your discount. I know this b/c I work at Petsmart and I've inquired about a canister filter that was about $80 cheaper online.

yeah petsmart is pretty sweet....i took back my H.O.T. Magnum filter that was busted that i bought like a year ago and they gamme a new one...89.99 new...then i also got like 40 bucks cheaper then normal off those 350s. Like you said about the oscars having personality, they are already starting to recognize me as the food, not the preditor....now two of them are chill enough to come up to the surface when i go to feed them, instead of swimming into a hiding place. Also, I'm going to try breeding guppies in my 29...anyone got any easy tips? i have about 15 guppies in it right now...the gravel is like... 1/2 inch thick and theres a couple large rocks and thats it. beside a filter and small heater, of course.

THeres a section in the breeding forum that covers this in detail :) Actually there are a few threads in the breeding section on Guppies:)

I feed mine with different stuff all the time
mysis shrimp, bloodworms, brimshrimp, krill mixed
and also tetra jumbomin( it is kind of messy food, but my oscar love it)
Hikari gold
