I’ve been on a journey preparing a new 300 gallon tank for what I plan on being a SA cichlid show tank.
Dimensions are 8’ long, 2’ wide and 29” high.
My intended stocking up to this point was something like:
2 Oscars
4-5 Severums
1 Chocolate Cichlid
5-6 EBA
8 (or more) Geophagus Tapajos
10-15 dithers (maybe Denison barbs or something of the sort)
I saw a Fire eel at my LFS today and have been hooked at the idea of adding one to this setup.
I know Oscars can be iffy since they are jut curious and gluttonous, but I was wondering if:
1. Is my tank big enough for a fire eel long term? I want to make sure it will be comfortable
2. Can it work with my stocking list? I know the fire eel (and other fish for that matter) will need to be big enough before adding Oscar’s since they may very well out grow the others.
I’d love to make this work but if it’s simply not possible I can accept that. Figure I’d ask the nice people of MFK.
Fully willing to let all the fish grow out for months before getting Oscar’s.
