if your oscar is easy going enough, some sort of catfish, clown loach or larger bichir for a bottom feeder works well. the oscar is an extremely messy eater, and cats, loaches and bichirs are always scouring the bottom for leftover food ontop of whatever their fed.
again, depends on your fish. if he's a bit of a bully, go with something that can hold its own if need be like a jack dempsey, or something smaller and fast like a convict that can easily go and hide in deco
any cichlid commuity tank is a risk....you may get a perfect tankmate the 1st try, or your oscar could end up destroying a finned-friend, or two....
