Hi guys!i have been wondering if oscars have gd tank mates?cuz the owner of an IFS said they would kill everything!but ive seen ppl put oscars with awrowanas, datnoids, peackock bass......so can they be kept with other fish?plz tell me:p tanks!

As far as cichlids go they are not the most aggressive.the LFS speaks lies! Lol I've kept them with JD,gt,vieja, various catfish, convicts, acaras, lots of things can go with a Oscar

Yep lies. I have a large one and he doesn't bother any of the other fish. Includes arowana, silver dollars, severums, jack Dempsey, peacock bass, clown knife fish

I follow the general rule of making sure my oscar is bigger than other cichlids in the tank (as the others tend to be more aggressive) just not small enough where they could become lunch. of course fish od the same species can have varying temperments

of course . :) but u must also be careful though. my cousin once bought two oscars, the other one grows faster than the other one. as a result, the bigger one killed little one! uugghh ! :OMG:
well, the IFS also has a point. some oscars can be extremely aggressive towards everything even it's own keeper ! but most oscars dont show this.

my oscar is VERY VERY aggressive, but he has also been flying solo since he was a baby, he is not aggressivee towards me though.
in my opinion, if the oscar has had tank mates before he should be fine with other fish.
im not saying thats true, just my opinion.

They do have a reputation for bein bad tankmates, mainly ime because theyre not shy about eatin whatever tankmate they can fit in theyre mout

tank size is everything. My oscar wanted nothing in the tank in a 95g. he is doing fine in a 175 with a cat, 2 JD and a pleco.
