i didnt understand that post
he is congratulating the OP for asking on here first before getting the oscar rather than trusting the lfs salespeople as a lot of people would just take them for their word and then keep the poor oscar in that tank for life and stunt it and have it die an early death without ever questioning whether that size tank was good enough or not

I wish people at the lfs would actually inform people correctly. they dont realize what they are doing when they let a pacu go to a 10 gallon tank.

I wouldnt keep one in a 37g mate. I keep one in a 55g with a big plec so will be upgrading their tank soon. Messy eaters and they produce a lot of waste.

Smallest tank you could probably house an oscar for life is a 40 breeder, but you have to do things special. You would have to go with a wet/dry with a sump that has some water volume. The tank would have enough room and surface area and the filter with the extra water volume would be safe.

no convicts lol i used to breed convicts for my lfs an im not sayin i liked the checks for doin it, its just it got boring since i still live at home an i can only have 1 tank in my room so i got tired of doin convicts. i put 1 small sen in it an i love those an buffalohead so im thinkin 1 sen an a buffalohead cichlid

My 55 gal tank is 36"x18"x18" dimension. I understand why people have to buy 75 gal tank because in their country, the manufacturing of 55 gal has a different dimension. Oscar like aquariums that are wide and lengthy.
