Oscar Tank Set Ups

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I looked through their backgrounds, and they're all above-ground images ... not sure why someone would want their aquarium to not look underwater...

Check out this site:

Look at the "Slim Panels - G Models", they are thinner than typical 3D backgrounds. It would go inside the aquarium, but they look great, much better than the pictures IMHO.
Hello. I thought about it and decided to go with a blue ocean one. Thank you for the info on the site. They are GORGEOUS backgrounds!!! I might look into one for my JD tank.

Mine is just painted blue on the back. Around 6-8 coats. I really like how it came out. I have a background on my Oscar tank I like but I like the paint better. Personally I regret the black background on my Midas tank, the tank is too dark when you minimize the decor. Also, IMO avoid a lot of black in a background for an Oscar. It makes all those beautiful shades of greens, browns and greys turn jet black. I hated it when I had my Oscar in that tank.

You could try some silk vines and see if BB likes to play with those. Get some of the ones with suction cups you can make a 'bridge' across the tank with...my Brick loves swimming in green tunnels.

I had to remove rocks too. Found one of the boulders shoved against the glass one day! I got tempered glass but still...rocks + O's = chaos.

Hi Karen!!! Hope you & Brick are doing well!!! Thanks for the great idea!!! I had some extra intake strainers and I put them in the tank and he likes to play with those!!! LOL!!! I miss the rocks but IM glad I took them out!!! I can't imagine cracked glass in a 125!!! NOT GOOD!!! I decided to go with a rock background. I think it will look cool!!!

Heh, Brick is fine...holding at 11 inches and getting THICK. Glad that BB found something fun to play with!

These pieces work well for me and they provide some good blind spots and hiding places for the rest of the crew. There about 40 lbs each, everything else I put in there get trashed in minutes. 3661F305-AD04-4F55-8DD6-D3B07D0B1027.png
