Okay i see, im gonna get this 265 used i seen for $900. Things beautiful, it has 3 cabinet feeding doors, its amazing. Im gonna go pick it up asap. This is my first time having this big of a tank. Any tips? Ik the things gonna have to cycle for a good two months lmao.

8 weeks sounds right, that's how long it took to cycle my 225. Just stay patient with the process and it will work out! 900 is a steal for that tank with a stand.

I will for sure, i also have a baby EBJD in a sixty im gonna put in there with em to when he gets bigger. Yeah its a crazy steal. I paid $600 for this 90, a 265g with stand and canopy i was like wowww lol.

That is a great price for the 265, which I believe is a 7 foot tank as well. 180 is the biggest I have, and if I do an 80 percent water change during the winter, it pretty much maxes out my small 40 gallon house hot water heater. It may or may not be something for you to think about...but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Also, I am assuming it'll be in a safe spot, like a basement tank on slab, given that may be well north of 2500+ lbs when full of water and decor.

Yeah thats fine. I got a big house heater. Thank you, I appreciate that. Yes, it will be in a heated basement where my other tanks are.

Literally just seen a 90 gallon for $120. Additional $60 for steel stand. I paid $600 for mine a couple months ago. Smh lol. Although mine is very nice and has a nice stand with a beautiful canopy and $100s of dollars worth of different equipment so i cant complain but damn lol.

Ik this doesn’t pertain to this post but when they 265 is all setup, id like to get some other ebjds or other cichlids to put in that 90. How many can i have and whats a good tankmate for an ebjd? My first time having an ebjd. Ik they get 6-8 inches depending on male or female. Im thinking maybe two other same sized fish?

From what I know EBJD are pretty peaceful compared to the natural ones but a lot more fragile.
I have had plenty of acaras and found them chilled too especially the electric blues.
If it was my tank I would give it a try with the electric blues, just make sure there is a bit of cover and I would bet it will work out okay

Oh that’s perfect, the electric blue acara is the one i want to. Those get about what 6 inches? I was thinking a couple of those and another ebjd, that’ll make 4 total. That should be good for a 90 right?
