Oscar Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm gonna say no. Despite doing this myself, I don't like having a 12" fish in a 4' tank. It seems like a nice sized tank but it really is kind of restricting.

Would a Tiger Oscar be good in a 75g for life?

you can, but it's not advisable. You'll see much much better behaviours in say a 100g as mentioned; plus it'll be more enjoyable for you to witness.

My friend has two in a 75g (breeding pair), but they literally just float there; cause they dwarf the tank, its a shame.

Thanks! Guess he will be going in my 125g after all. Upgrading the 55g tank in my sons room to a 75g. What's a cool fish/pet that would go good in a 75g for life? South/central cichlid.

Thanks. I never had one of them. I had a parrot in there for two years and he was boring. If I go the Severum route maybe I will just keep the 55g

Might not be the most popular, but I'd say a convict. He'll get massive and stocky in a 75g, but will still have plenty of room. That or a JD; that would be awesome, if it didnt hide of course

I have a convict and jd both small 2.5" growing out in the 55g now with the Oscar. Those three are going in the 125g. I wanted a jaguar but with the Oscar needing a bigger tank he will be replacing that idea. So Oscar,jd, and convict in 125g. Can I get away with a gt also? 4 total fish? I'm making my decision today because I want to start them all young together not add a fourth later

I say Midas! Not as huge as Oscars but a good sized wet pet

A 75 is too much room for a single convict IMO as a wet pet; I have a large firemouth which are similar sized in a 60 and it wouldn' work as a wet pet. (Albeit convicts are less skittish)
