I agree. He is the boss now, and anything you put in the tank will be harassed. A pair is always difficult to have, because the dominant will always pummel the "runt". However if you have two "runts" they will split the pummeling. You could get two large cichlids, but then you'll have to consider a larger tank. :screwy:
good luck, keep us posted

I was going to point this out as well.....2 is never a good number of cichlids to have (unless it's a breeding pair). I would try introducing 2 fish, I think your chances of success would be much greater. If you are going to put in SD's, he many not even bother them, might not feel they are competition.

My o didnt like the silver dollars had to take them out,Now that hes fully grown I have the same problem you do,he wont tolerate any tankmates besides the pleco

hi im a newbie. i know that it is really hard to introduce another fish if there's already an oscar in your tank. oscar fish is very territorial. specially if you put a fish smaller than your oscar, it will end up as a fish food. its to better to put a fish that has the same size. but dont be afraid to experiment, just watch them from time to time.

bro try this it worked for me. rearrange the tank decor completely, so it looks like a new tank and once it is done switch off the light. once he oscar has gone to bed, say 30 mins add the new fish.

when he wakes up his bungalow has become a dorm. and it feels all new to him so he explores and notices the other fish.

did it and had no or few hassles.

Hello first time posting here,

What would be some good tankmates for my 11" tiger oscar and a hardcore rhino pleco (king of tank kinda funny realy)?

was thinkin like 4-5 silver dollars?

i tried a Gt , when he was small everything was fine when he got to bout 5" the oscar was unrelenting constantly chasing em round the tank.

any ideas would be apreciated!

thanks

Silver dollars are a great idea go with that mate i have they will complement your Oscar and your tank especially when you get a few of them as they shoal together.

your oscar will probally going to pick on any fish that you put in the tank unless its a bottom dweller i would only suggest a new type of catfish

What a load of BULL thats not true at all i have 2x 10" Oscars and they share my 180gallon with 8x Silver dollars 2x Silver flagtails 2x Convicts and 1x Jade eye and the only fish which picks on anything is the jade eye both my Oscars are great they love having the other fish in the tank there's no bother at all.

Look at my sig LOL....so damn overstocked....but it's REALLY peaceful....water is really clean since I change it 1-2 times a week...fish aren't stressed out at all....They won't live in a 90 for life tho.

What about some type of P-Bass? I know it's not teh same family but my LMB owns my Oscar, but they get along most of the time.
