If you have plans for a larger tank (at least a 75, bare minimum), you would be fine. However, the oscar itself is going to outgrow the 55 by itself.
yeah, an O and JD are great together. but plan on buying a bigger aquarium no more than a year from now. I'd go with a 75, 90 woldn't give you any more floor space. a 100($265) would cost you twice what a 75($130) would, so if you are going bigger than a 75, you can get a 135 ($275).

Yes, Oscars don't belong in 55 gallon tanks, and Mollies, in my opinion, shouldn't be in fresh water.

put a large common pleco in with him and an apple snail thats about it i had an o and a pleco in a 29g tank for a wile they would fight a bit but i moved them both in other bigger tanks when the o got 2 about 9 in but no one died

Thanks guys.....i now have a leopard pleco and the JD and O and will probably upgrade to a 90 gallon as soon as i can.....right now im in a college house and my room is basically a tank with the 55 haha...im looking for one more fish to add to my collection so lemme know what yall think about that
