Good suggestions so far. Severums, chocolate cichlids, some larger geophagus, all seem to work well with oscars. Silver dollars, larger plecos and bichirs, are good ideas. Clown loaches would work but take years to grow large, most likely your oscar would outgrow and eat them. Big ones are very pricey.
I used to have a Hujeta gar with an oscar, cool lesser-known SA characin that has the predatory look. Had no problems living together, just make sure the "gar" is large enough.
