Oscar tanmates????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i've got my oscars in with a snakehead, rck, fire eel, plec, sun cat, clown loaches and a juvi african lung!they won't all stay together though but the oscars are around 11" or so now!

I've got mine with a blue acara, the acara definitely adds some sparkle to the tank

my oscar gets along with any fish but another oscar. jd's and fm's are both good options

Ihave mine in with 2 silver dollars, a JD, a rainbow fish a male frontosa and a suncat. All in a 150g. The O is about 8-9 in and every thing else is much smaller. No problems with any of them.

I originally had the O in with a bigger arrowana and that was a good fit also, but my tank is twice the size of yours.

Anything could do will with a small O, but he will get bigger than the rest quickly.

Good luck

i've got 4 oscars with a small school of 5 red tail tinfoil barbs(growing quickly) 2 hoplo catfish, a redtail cat, and a pleco.

the oscars only mess with eachother.

You have to be careful with adding anything with an O in a 75, it will creat a big bio load and means you will have to keep up the water changes.

tank mates really depend on your fish. but be careful, space might be a problem and two large cichlis together could mean trouble.

A large O in a tank with some clown loaches always looks nice. You could deck the tank out, O love to explore and it creates a nice tank that you just want to sit down and watch all day with no fighting fish in it.

Well said, I'd like for once to have an O in a planted tank, if it were ever possible.
