Just wondering if there is a species of Oscars that gett under 10in. When i was at petsmart to pick up some salt for my tank i was looking at there stock. i saw they was selling Tiger Oscars. On the lil tag below the tank it said it needed min 20g tank (i laught to myself) but the tag also said it only got 9in. Is this true? I thought Oscar got like 12-16 inches.

first for me, I keep O's and have read well on them and nothing has ever popped about a smaller species.
Sounds like a clueless shop keeper.

If this is coming from a store that says they needed a maximum 20g tank, then I wouldn't trust it....

dude this happens all the time at chain stores. ive posted on a buncha threads about this. i saw tags that said managuense are good in 20 gallons, and midas too, so i would go by the info u have not petco or petsmart.

lol yea that what i though just find it funny they do or say just about anything to make a sell

Generally Oscars are much larger that that, as big as 14+ inches but every so often you can get a smaller one. I know my guy topped out around 10-11 inches or so.

yeah thats just how chain stores sell so many fish, and even if they were right about the 9in thats still too big for a 20g LMAO but yeah my petsmart actually usually has at least close to the right information on housing requirements but i have been to some where i seriously had to LOL at the info (read once on a card that bala sharks grow to 12in and that they would be good in 20g, i guess they had half of the info correct lol)
