Oscar under 10in?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well i guess if you use their info, put the oscar in a 20 gallon tank, he probably will max out at 9" or less, so not really lyin, they just aren't saying that the 20 gallon tank is stunting his growth and he'll probably die before he's 2, yeah, i saw the same thing with the midas in there, 20 gallon tank.

1x oacar = min a 65 tank

yeah thats just how chain stores sell so many fish, and even if they were right about the 9in thats still too big for a 20g LMAO but yeah my petsmart actually usually has at least close to the right information on housing requirements but i have been to some where i seriously had to LOL at the info (read once on a card that bala sharks grow to 12in and that they would be good in 20g, i guess they had half of the info correct lol)
My LFS has Bala Sharks that are almost 24in in a show tank.

:WHOA::WHOA: wow i learned something as well then, def didnt know they got THAT big

a full gorwn Oscar under 10 inches is a stunted Oscar I have seen a few I regret to say I had a friend that had one he kept it in a 40 gallon tank for years after several intense conversations with him he now knows he did wrong and he is currently upgrading his tank ..... I can't help but feel pity for some fish that are forced to live in such tiny tanks .... I wish that people would research each and every pet they get to know what size tank they need what they eat what temp proper ph ...ect. then we would not see anymore stunted miscared for fish :(

I seen a tag at the petsmart here that said red bellied pacu get 12". I told them that their tags were wrong, but they looked at me like i was crazy. They have wrong size's on oscars, id sharks, midas, well.... come to think of it most of the tags are wrong.

yeah its sad because alot of people will get these fish taking what the pet stores tell them as the gospel and never research it further, and sadly these poor fish end up in too small tanks, stunted

The problem is if all shop keepers told the truth they would never get the customers to spend that much money. They rely on getting you hooked with half truths then you can spend big money upgrading in the future to what they should have said in the first place
