I've had 2 arowanas and a 1" oscar in my 120gallon sence it first cycled. The oscar is now about 2" and the arowanas are about 6-7". Why does the oscar think hes king of my tank and push everyone around lmao. will my arowanas snap on him 1 day?

yea, the aro will eventually show him who is boss, unfortunately, the aro will have to get fairly large before he does, and that may be too late IMO.

Smaller aros dont handle stress easily IME

because he is the dominant fish of the tank, intimidates everyone in the tank to keep them in check.

he will stay in power unless the arowana steps up

Most silvers are quite passive, and oscars generally bully bully bully until a fish fights back.

To be honest I hate oscars now. I used like them, think they were funny etc, but they are just coward fish.

If something fights back, the instance it fights back, they run and hide. They only bully, they don't fight.

Most aros at that size won't fight back, so you better hope they grow fast.

My 10 inch oscar tried to bully my 15 inch aro. I have an unusually aggressive silver. The silver bit it's head as soon as the oscar charged it, and since then it's been beating the **** out of it. The oscar has several chunks missing from his head, turning into scars now, and all his fins are in tatters, and scales missing. 50% of the time the oscar is hiding behind a powerhead, and now it picks on no-one, whereas before it went around picking on everything, even biting my laid back bichirs etc for no reason.

Fish like channas and jardinis fight to the death, oscars don't fight at all, they just bully.

Oscars arent agressive like many people think. They're slightly territorial.

Slightly.

I can totally see rumbles post in my head lol

yeah i had the same problem as you only it was with a severum and a black arowana. eventually the aro stepped up and now he is the for sure king of the tank.

Helps that the oscar is hardy so when the aro shows it's aggression, less chances of a fatality unless it's discovered too late.

Lmao i could picture a oscar charging and bam,!!!

It's not like the oscar is bullying him alot, its just he will every now and then if the arows get to close he will charge them and they will dart across the tank. The arowanas have grown 1" and have gotten fat and its ben like 2-3 weeks. while the oscar has grown 1" and gotten fat in the same amount of time, so i hope they arows will start to rule the tank.

I'll be adding a 2" jag on thursday so im hopping all goes well and that my oscar and jag wont get killed and all my fish will live happly.

I used to hold to rallysman's opinion but that has changed. Depending on the oscar, he could really make life miserable for the arowana. I just got rid of an oscar (full size) because it began digging a hole in my 180. Red flags were going up. When they start digging they are getting real territorial,. At first all was good. But after the digging started, he became down right violent with everyone. Not just pecking at fish, but full out biting to kill. I had an oscar that lived for years peacfully with my to 2' arowanas back in the eighties. No problem then. I think it just depends on the fish
