You can have the Dempsey in there with the Oscar (make sure to get them at the same time too) but they have to close in size or they will terrorize the other.

i would recommend a big peaceful american cichlid like a syspilum or a pearseifor the big tank.

synspilum would get to big for most tanks though not a like 180g

I know synspillum are labled as peaceful, but all the ones i've had are nasty.

my bgk was happy/healthy with (2) gold sevs and (3) clown loaches...

BGK will get along with anything it can't fit in it's mouth barring other knife fish and assuming it's in a large tank.

I would go with the Oscar because i have one in my pond and he just swims with the other fish.
