Oscar vs GT Growth rates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the replies, I have moved the tank around a couple of times since I introduced the fish and it is jammed full of decorations and plants no matter how corny/ugly they are:ROFL:!

I am picking up my new filter this weekend (Tetratec 2400) so will have to drain the main tank to remove the internal in the Rio 400 so i'll just have to see how it goes with another change around and reintroduction.

There seems to be a few people keeping O and GT/GS together and I can't help feeling I introduced them at the wrong stage or something.

You can keep all 3 fish in that tank most likely all their lives. The GT will grow a steady 1"-1.5" per two months while the oscars can grow the same size every month til they reach 8".

I'd say your O's are gonna grow faster but your GT will always dominate them. He's simply meaner and your fish doesn't seem to be the exception here. Size doesn't matter when you talk about Midas, GT, Texas, Trimac... etc. :)
I disagree and have 2 Os and a GT proving other wise my GT when the O's were younger the GT would terrorize the O's now the larger O has the GT whipped and doesn't go near either of them.
