This probably has already been said here, as I didn't read every post... but if your oscar is eating pellets, I really wouldn't worry about it. If you want to give him variety, then just by a variety of different pellets, and just go with it. Honestly, quality pellets are about the healthiest thing you could give him anyway. These days you can easitly get everything from beefheart pellets to color pellets and everything in between!

He may have already passed the critical period. You need to start feeding them different kinds of food from when they are very young, the longer you wait the harder it gets.
