Oscar wont eat

in my 55 gallon i have a 4" oscar and 3 red eye tetras. a week or two ago i had a firemouth that gave him these sores and attacked him aggressively. i took him (the FM) out 5 days ago. yesterday i put in 4 goldfish and he ate them, but he still isnt the personable fish oscars should be. today i dropped in a shrimp pellet, he sulked over to it, got it, and then spit it out. whats wrong? parameters are good i did a huge WC 4 days ago after the FM left, and i thought he was pouting about it all. turns out he isnt and he wont eat and he just hangs out by the filter at the top. what do i do?

You shouldn't feed any fish goldfish, they are really bad for their health. Also did you make sure the goldfish were free of parasites, that could be making your Oscar sick. The firemouth could also have given him diseases if you didn't quarantine him. He could have also gotten something from his wounds. How long have you had him, Cichlids take time to get personable, and does he have places to hide? Basically a myriad of things could be wrong with him. If I were you I would watch him for a bit longer to see if he has any diseases and treat him for parasites. I wouldn't recommend feeding any fish live fish unless you raised them and made sure they are free of parasites.

the FM was in another tank for 2 years but i got rid of that tank and put him in there but nothing was wrong with him the parameters were good in that tank too, there were no parasites on them i observed them for anything, the oscars been been mine for 4 months and was a super personable fish now he just coweres around he has places everywhere he has a pot, some plants, basically a tree in there.

When was the last time you checked the water parameters? I absolutely agree about the feeding of live fish without quarantine.
