can u help me with this heated disscussion would a oscar be ok with malawi, i mean aggression wise, i know they speak different language etc
i was thinking no they wouldnt, but some one i know has got one with his and seems ok.
who is right me or my mate

and why would i be right is it their aggression or just cos they are american and malawi r african or are the malawi to aggressive for the oscar?????

oscar are southern american, malawi is african...need _completly_ diffrent water parameters.

otherwise, they probably could get along. But i wouldnt try it, since theyre on completly diffrent levels of water parameters, one of the species have to suffer.

Unless the fish is from the wild that doesn't matter. For example a lot of people including myself have mixed CA with Buttikefori which isn't from the same area. It has to do with size and temperment. My brother a while back successfully mixed his Common Oscar with predatory Haps.
Hap. Livingstoni
Hap. Polystigma
Hap. Compressiceps
T-Chromis
All got around the same size and pretty much had the same temperment.
Now, I would never recommend mixing Oscars with any Peacocks or Mbunas.

It does matter, wild caught or domesticated. They still need diffrent waterparameters.. its a myth that just because theyve been breeded for a few years, they can adapt to "normal" water. You might not notice, but their growth usually gets stumped or they might live several years less than if kept right.
