Oscars Battle....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are fighting because one is tryin to assert his dominance.

After i put them both in a bucket then reintroduced them they fought a little, but now it has really calmed down, but the Red still lets the tiger know who the boss is once in awhile.

I got my new Oscar today he is about 10 inches and he is fighting with my 9 inch albino but i put a towel over the tank and turned off the light and it has calmed down, might try the bucket thing :)

probaly wont stop. If they are showing that much aggression towards eachother. You can rearrange the tank with both of them out of the tank, and then introduce them together. If that doesnt work then just put a tank divider up for a while and let them see eachother but without fighting maybe they can get use to eachther in the water without fighting cause of the divider

Once one attains dominance, it will decrease alot and continue with just dudging and bumping and chasing though with less damage.

We had 2, got along great. All was fine for three months and then one started showing aggression one night. Came home the next day and the smaller one was beat with in an inch of it's life. Had to put it to sleep :-(

So to answer the question, you'll need a lot of space for them to even try to get along.

hey all,

i've been surfing around to find ideas for tankmates for my pair of oscars, bought together both around 4" at the moment; when i seen this thread, my oscars have been locking mouths with eachother and swimming head to tail with eachother, sometimes only that happened sometimes ended in a nip one way or the other. what are they doing?

and what have you lot got with your oscars?

They are fighting for dominance. I have a parrot fish with my oscar and convicts.

my oscar abandoned ship last week.... :( keep your lids on
