shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I have two oscars that have been together for many months and have got along fine, but now sometimes they fight really aggresivley. i dont think its just play fighting because one will charge the other from the other side of the tank and ram it hard, and they will go for each others gills and make numberous attempts. however, sometimes they still swim together side by side. what makes matters worse is i have 2 red devils who seem to have taken sides with my albino, and sometimes all 3 fish will gang up on my red oscar(who is my favorite fish) and bully him into a corner. the red devils dont attack him as ferociously as the albino does though, they will mostly chase and nip and try to bully.

first off, how big is your tank?

WOW....try and rearangeing your tank.

i had some structures in it before and they wernt as violent. now i removed all but one i keep in the corner so it is all open water. i needed to take them out cuz my cat is getting too big and he needs swimming space. do you think they are just adjusting to not having territores anymore? i took the structures out a few days ago

I think that's too many fish for a 90g with aggressive Cichlids of those sizes. You should upgrade to a bigger tank or keep your tank simple with driftwood and flower pots for hiding places and to establish territory. Oscars are open water fish and don't hide often, but your Red Devils are hiders and shy but aggressive.

They have become mature ..could be two males fighting for dominance or a pair ..and one does not want to be bothered.... they probably will continue until you need to separate... then try them again... if it still does not work it probably won't ever stop between them....

Agree with Oscarsftw (again :-)) A 4ft tank with 4 extrememly territorial sexually mature big Cichlids is a death or 2 waiting to happen. There's not enough room for them to claim territory. Unfortunately you'll have to seperate them.

One day, you will eventually have to upgrade to a bigger tank or minimize your stock.

I upgrade my tank sizes by size and how much of fishes I keep...Soon I'll be getting a 125g then to a 150g then finally to 210G. Ask around at your local LFS for a lay away plan for a larger tank.
