I hate to be "that guy", but that tank setup is not going to work long term. what you have is a 44 gallon tank, smaller that the recomended size for one adult oscar (55 gallons). I imagine you have a hard time keeping your nitrates under 40 ppm, even if your doing 2 huge water changes a week. Your oscars will eventually get sick, probably HITH, from poor water conditions. I feel like I should tell you now, cause when I first got my O I had him in sub parr conitions and he got HITH, and it got worse before it got better. It took months of almost daily water changes before I was able to get it under control. You might want to start thinking about upgrading to at least a 100 gallon tank, to avoid this problem.

I have proof a 55g is too small. I had mine in a 55g w/ a rena xp3 and emperor 400 and did 3 water changes a week, and mine still got HITH.

It took about 5 years for mine to get 13''. HITH will really slow down the growth of the fish, so that is one reason a bigger tank is better. A greater water volume helps offset the water to waste ratio.

Now my guy is in a 72g bowfront, and is very happy and no more HITH. He still has the scars though :(

no one has any 12+ lemon oscars? or longfin?!

No, no albino or longfin, here. Just a Rapps-to-petshop-Peru caught O! Nine inches now, owned since four inches six months ago. My brother-in-law Erik shot these.

I saw a longfin that looked albino but more tiger oscar fish. It was beautiful and had 1/8 inch new growth in it's tail fin. It was about 4 inches long and supper active.
