Oscars have personalities?

I have heard that oscars are a VERY personable fish...but what are your guys experience with this? Any funny stories, or habits that their oscars have?

Mine is very lazy, and likes to play with toys sometimes

Most of the time he floats on his side then floats to the bottom

Only really active when there is food around

Very destructive with food

Mine loves to beg for food and likes to push this one marble around in the tank. Theres a few fish in the tank that are easily bite size for him but he doesn't touch them. I love my oscar Marley.

My experience of 20 years with Oscar's is that they are usually one extreme or the other. Very mellow cool just chillin, or total pain in the butt!

Hey mate, ive taught my oscar from a young age to mouth fight anyone who gets close enough, it scares the crap outta kids, funny as hell, and they colour nicely too. Another thing you can try is to pat him your oscar every now again to get him/her sweet on you, but too much and you'll mess up his/her slime coat. One thing i will talk down is making them jump for food...........................all these mad vids on youtube, oscars jumping for food the next week their on the dead fish thread astounded their O ended up on the floor...........

Thats why I stopped making mine jump for food, a few laughs aren't worth the lose of a good fish.

mine is the soppiest fish in the tank he doesnt bother anyone all he wants to do is eat and he knows how to beg!

Funny story for you I have an albino tiger O that i have been hand feeing krill for about a month one day i walk over to the tank and was leaning my head over the top, to have my albino leap out of the tank to take a nip at my nose, he came out of the tank so fast my nose was red for about 10 min. I learned not to do that any more.
