My friend had a tiger oscar in his pond and it used to jump out onto the rocks to catch lizards and flop back down into the water.

oscars are fun and great additions to any large tank. i have a red oscar and he is awesome. he eats anything i feed him out of my hand including flakes. he will sit at the front of the tank with his head out of the water to accept food. i put a little bell on his tank and rang it to get their attention for feeding time (instead of banging on the glass or hood) and my oscar starting ringing the bell when he was hungry. he doesnt do it often but he does not let me forget to feed him. only other funny thing is when i moved him from his growout to his new home he hit me in the face with a 4 inch or so ball of water he flung at me using his tail. he has gotten really good with that. that is why i moved him away from the tv haha
My Oscar had great persanality, he would swim back n forth in his tank we he would see me, then when I get close he would swim to the top and somwhat beg for food. He also didn't mind me giving him a few pats on the back. Overall I have to say oscars are like puppy dogs in a tank
my oscars are so lazy and fun they dont even eat the platys i have in with them LMAO but heck they are oscars after all! mine loves to beg for food all the time. i have an albino ( consider lutino ) and an albino tiger ( lutino tiger ) biggest is about 6 inches and the other one is about 5 inches. the male con i have in there is the sub dominate one ( oscars being the dominate ones ) so yah
Mine's hilarious. One minute he's dignified and mellow and the next he's flopping his body against the floor of the tank like a flounder. All their behaviors can be pretty easily traced back to either instinct or conditioning, but they are very prone to acting out at random. And the look on your friend's face when they try to feed him and get splashed is priceless.
