Hi guys, my name is Deep and i am from India.
I have been keeping oscars for almost four years now and i am faced with something new...

I got a 150g tank for them last year and since then i have been noticing behavioral changes...

the biggest two: the tiger and the red have built a nest by clearing out the substrate from a part of the tank...

My observations so far:

•they are constantly staying near the exposed glass bottom and staying side by side.
•they are not letting others to get close.
•they are biting eachother's mouths but there is no aggression
•they are twitching and circling the area

What do i do?? its a 5'x2'x2' tank...
there are more oscars in the tank and last time they did this, i didn't see any eggs...
there are plecos and a tt eel as well...

Here are some pics...66048_4880581254750_873799704_n.jpg599908_4880580614734_124746751_n.jpg581645_10200615983464398_912178543_n.jpg561584_4880581534757_1812372473_n.jpg561561_4515927378631_1015591165_n.jpg561555_4880580774738_1372423148_n.jpg560949_4515934218802_551673289_n.jpg558302_4515929538685_2109786512_n.jpg555073_10200615991384596_380928728_n.jpg542989_4880580334727_1932811335_n.jpg542588_10200616019145290_705337940_n.jpg424696_4515927298629_685145065_n.jpg404133_4515927538635_71464784_n.jpg391582_4515927658638_903381417_n.jpg299655_10200196681622114_1402441299_n.jpg283254_4880581814764_1235381426_n.jpg76214_4515927178626_1996750605_n.jpg603953_4880582134772_2029536910_n.jpg

Nice pics and setup... U dont need to do anything... Just feed them and waterchange they will do their part...

Plecos will eat oscar eggs, they are nocturnal and will eat the eggs while the Os are resting.
First I would remove the plecos and the other fish, or immediately after eggs are put down, and if fertile, (if some other fish are left) divide the tank with egg crate. Pair on one side, all other fish on the other .

I weight the horizontal parts of the divider down with heavy rocks, it must be strong enough to keep other fish from bending or breaking it down, and Os are very strong. I also snip off pieces at the top to wedge it under the rim.

@ everyone: thanks for the advice :)
a partition seems ideal for me :)

my full stock list is 6 oscars+ 3 plecos + 1 tyretrack eel + 1 barillius bakeri
the oscars have been brought up together and even show schooling activity...
would love to have a 300g someday when i get my own place :D

then i would only have a pair ( two ) oscars in the tank. that tank is to small for all 6 oscars, and for 6 your going to need even a bigger tank then a 300......
