So I picked up two more oscars to add to my existing oscar/dempsey tank. These ones were much smaller though. Okay so anyways I had an albino already and picked up another albino and a tiger o. My tiger and my original albino have been following eachother around everywhere! They rarely leave eachothers sides! Also have been defending one side of the tank together. The one 4" o that possibly paired with the 3" tiger bit me! First time I've been bitten by that o! Did they maybe have eggs? They paired off I think and have been defending one side of the tank against all oncomers. Even me! Pretty sure they are too small to spawn though. But I've heard of some occasions where fish spawn at much smaller sizes. Any ideas? Even if they did have eggs can they be fertile? Thanks.
Here's a pic of the possible pairuploadfromtaptalk1335927085030.jpg

Too young to spawn, my Oscars of similar size have done this before; not sure what it is, maybe just bonding?

The same O's I had that used to do the follow the leader thing are still ok with one another but not a pair.

Not sure about them not being a pair. The one albino in the pic bit me while the tiger o stayed in the one corner. Similar to defending their eggs. Any ideas what they are doing*

Oscars are very unlikely to breed prior to 8" and are very picky. You can only assune they are a pair if you see eggs. Otherwise there sex is very undeterminable and even venting can prove difficult.

As for what they are doing... Oscars are very intelligent so I am sure there is a reason. They are also very sociable so when O's swim together they are swimming together.

I had an oscar which was around 3" and it spent 3 days protecting an empty snail shell in the corner of the tank, for no reason. So in the end I removed because I was slightly concerned. It was almost like the snail shell was its phantom child.

Just typical O behaviour.

My two little oscars are doing the exact same thing with a large palnt in the one corner. It seems like they are protecting it, they even chased off the pleco in the tank and eat any feeders that swim near it

Yeah mine still are "paired" even at 10 and 8 inches. Never had signs of eggs
